Hotel Colorado

On September 8, 2002, the websters spent the night at the Hotel Colorado in Glenwood Springs Colorado. This beautiful historic hotel opened in 1893, has boasted many famous visitors such as John H. "Doc" Holliday, Diamond Jack Alterie, Molly Brown, President William Howard Taft, and many more.
We had heard rumors of possible paranormal activity occasionally taking place at this hotel and decided to check it out ourselves.
Perhaps some of the hotel's famous visitors haven't checked out yet?
We did capture one interesting EVP!

To hear this EVP, click here.

The atmospheric conditions for the night were excellent.
A geo-magnetic storm was in effect.
Moon phase: new
Weather: thunder, lightning, and rain

Equipment we used:
Sony dcr-trv 740 digital video/still camera
Mamiya SLR 35mm camera using Fuji Superia 800 sp. film
ELF (exteme low frequency field detector)
RCA digital recorder (one possible EVP was obtained)
Last, but not least, Kat's own ability to sense spirits in the immediate area.

Out of approximately 50 pictures we took that night, we had four come up with interesting things in them.

Time: 9:45 PM
Camera: Mamiya SLR

Kat had sensed a possible presence around this antique dresser. I then stood to the left to avoid a flash reflection in the mirror, and snapped this photo.
What looks to be a "Star of David" appeared in the mirror.
Time:10:10 PM
Camera: Mamiya SLR

This picture was taken at random looking toward a second story window. There were no trees or other obstructions outside the window.
There appears to be a face peering in from the outside.
Time: 10:23 PM
Camera: Mamiya SLR

This picture was taken inside a totally dark storage type room. Upon closer examination, the room was full of small orbs.
Time: 10:54 PM
Camera: Mamiya SLR 35mm

This interesting picture was taken on the third floor. There appears to be a vortex or some other type of energy extending out of the dresser mirror at the end of the hallway.
Upon closer examination, the energy even appears to cast a shadow.

A visitor sent us this great story...........

Hi,
I stumbled across your webpage and read and saw the photos you took of Hotel Colorado. I went to school in Glenwood Springs a couple years ago and have stayed the night in that hotel twice and visited a few times. I have absolutely no doubt that there is indeed paranormal activity there. I was so skeptical and really didn't believe in these sorts of things until I went there.
The first night in Glenwood Springs, my Mom and I stayed there and, well...didn't sleep too well. My Mom couldn't sleep either and she never has this problem..okay, so you might say we were a little freaked out by it being known as haunted...okay..I can accept that...until some strange things happened.
First thing I remember is my mom sitting straight up in her bed and yelling at me to "Get it off" over and over...I look at her and she is completely scared...she then tells me that a very large spider was crawling on my bed. Of course, there was no spider. Then I keep hearing muffled voices and music, like there is a small party going on next door...upon investigating, all was quiet. The last thing I remember was lying on my side, close to the edge of the bed and opening my eyes I saw a wispy hand reaching for my face. And when I sat up it was gone.
So with my newly discovered fascination I returned again...took the tour twice..once before they closed off the "boiler room"...now that was a scary place I would not venture into alone...glad I saw it though, they told us all about Al Capone and the "catacombs"..which we caught a glimpse of but of course could not enter...and it was locked up tight other than for the tours.
Never saw anything on the tours. But my friend and I sat in the coffee shop to chat...the only other person in there was the clerk. We both smelled sulfur..like a match had just been lit. We couldn't identify the source. Exploring more that day, we came to a hall and while walking we came to an area that smelled very strongly of perfume...I thought at first it was air freshener, or something like that but we walked right out of the smell...walked back to that spot and it was really faint...walked another direction, it got stronger...it led to one of the hotel room doors...that was very weird...
okay, so the most convincing thing that happened to me was on Halloween night...we had a small get together with a few friends..only a few of us went exploring...I do believe it was the third floor that all of this happened on. My friend tells me a ball of light is following me...I'm like, okay..yeah..um..you're joking right? So entered this floor..that very same desk with the mirror with the star of david on your site...moved. The mirror tilted ever so slightly but it moved...then there is this one hallway..it very well may be the one you also have on your site...that sent us all packing.
My friend says they're down there, having a pretty good time actually...I can't see anything but then she says "someone's coming"...and right after she said that the entire lighting in that hallway shifted. I can't explain exactly...but just you could see it quite clearly...another girl said she saw what she thought was a top hat. My friend said whoever it is, they're not happy...so we got out of there. It was pretty scary, but even though I didn't see the hat or the people at all, I definitely saw the shifting of the light...it was bizarre.
the girl who saw the top hat claimed something grabbed her shoulders...she was very shaken up..she was terrified..but I don't know whether I believed her or not.
Just wanted to share my experience with that hotel...it still intrigues me, though I'm back in Alaska..where I haven't come across anything paranormal. That hotel has tons of history, no wonder...
